Tight and awkward spaces doesn’t mean impractical. With the right design elements, fixtures and finishes, a small space can be turned into a little gem of beauty and practicality. This powder room is located under a staircase which offers little wiggle room for particular necessities such as a ceiling fan. As a solution, the fan is actually located behind the pivot mirror, which still allows air/moisture to vent yet discretely hiding it out of view. It’s these kinds of details which can often be overlooked, but we make it our mission to consider every detail involving obstacles in order to provide effective and beautiful solutions.
For a timeless look a white scheme is the ideal choice, mixed with polished nickel fixtures and hints of silvery grey and black. A small space can contain many details without feeling overwhelming. We have introduced elements such as a bordered floor tile around one large Calcutta marble tile 24”x48”, added baseboard and chair rail trim to frame in the elongated white contemporary porcelain tile finishing with floral print wallpaper. The base of the room is fairly linear, but a circular motif in the wallpaper and polished nickel fixtures provides a contrast of elegant curvature against the straight lines.
